Hatred is not the root cause; fear is.
Fear of the unknown, fear of what ifs, fear of not being accepted as good enough during paradigm shifts, fear of extinction, fear of being left alone, fear of challenging the comfort-zone.
Fear-based ego has led to much diversion and discrimination throughout history.
Some people fear those of different races, cultures, religions, and nationalities because they don’t know them.
Some people of a genders fear people of other genders because they don’t know them fully.
Some heterosexuals fear homosexuals because they don’t know them.
Some older people of other generations fear younger ones because they don’t know and understand them.
The easiest way for the fearful and protective ego to react to unknown “territory” is through hatred and doubt. “I don’t know this and it’s not the same as me, so I should keep it at distance because it can challenge my existence” has been the mantra for how mankind has survived for eons of years.
Fortunately, we are becoming more conscious and enlightened as the world becomes more global, “faster” and “smaller”.
Thus, the most collective and effective ways to handle these challenges are through curiosity, information-gathering and openness. Furthermore, the more secure we become in ourselves through self-love, the easier it is to stand in our own power while also making way for those who are different from us.
We are not defined by others, only by ourselves. It is time to let fear go and embrace the beauty of diversity. A colorful world is what makes life worth experiencing. The glass should always be seen as half-full.
