Self-love is about releasing your inner child to experience the most authentic happiness you are bestowed with. When you are having fun or pampering yourself, but not on behalf of others or your own soul, you are giving much love to the youthful and innocent part of your soul. Hence, you are allowing it to not care about external judgement and validation to become happy. This way, you are making yourself freer and more versatile while being disconnected from all constrictions dragging your energy down.
Sometimes, it’s necessary to be healthily selfish to fill up your own cup so that you will have enough energy to give to yourself and your loved ones. Only you know what really works for you, so don’t care about the judgment of others.
Be creative, dance in the rain, draw, sing, read, exercise, run, play games, watch memes, laugh, travel, take a bath, go on a hike, drive your car, watch movies, listen to music, learn something new, start studying, enjoy a trip to a spa-retreat, walk in nature, meditate, do yoga, write, talk, watch arts, swim, meet or talk to people making you feel happy and good about yourself, do good to others, etc. Do whatever rocks your boat even if you must do this alone on your own.
The more you get used to making yourself happy, the easier life gets during the windiest of storms. Thus, self-love is about you taking responsibility for your own happiness. We don’t only do this by keeping away from people, activities, situations draining our energy, but also by pursuing those factors that give us great energy.
However, be aware of the main difference between self-love and self-sabotage. If you are focusing on elements giving you immediate pleasure, but lastingly draining you, like lots of addictions and vices, then you are taking one step forward and three steps back according to your soul.
So don’t feel ashamed to laugh together with your inner child while you are having a blast. You are just refueling your soul with much-needed positive energy.
